Today's Blog: Wednesday the 30th of April, 2025.
An interesting day is the last day in the month of April. It is Anti Food Waste Day.
Farmers toil hard all through the year to get us food on our plates. But what do we do? We pile our plates with excess food, waste, bin or just made to rot. This is just not done.
There are millions of children who cry to sleep in hunger. Our world has many hungry mouths to feed. How do we respect food and inculcate the same in children from a very young age?
Well, children follow adults in the family. If we respect food, eat proportionately, value food, then half the battle is won. At weddings, maximum food gets wasted as there is an array of culinary delights to choose from. What happens to the leftovers? It may be binned. But, what if it is distributed to the needy? After all, the food was paid some exorbitant amount.
Think of an orphanage or a shelter home to distribute the fresh leftovers. Care should be taken to handle the leftovers hygienically. Not only at gatherings but at home too, food must be stored and eaten the next day.
Next time someone wastes food, please think about the hapless millions who wait for one good meal a day. Not a big thing to ask for, or is it?
