On the 10th of every year, NDD, which is National Deworming Day, is observed throughout India. This is a Government of India initiative to de-worm all children between the ages of 1 and 19 years. Intestinal worms mitigate the healthy growth of our children. The immediate effect is not seen, but in the growing up years, it impedes the growth of healthy children. Every school going child or otherwise, from cities to villages, are included. STH; which translates into Soil Transmitted Helminths, such as round worms, tape worms, and flukes that are prasaitic and are detrimental to the growth of healthy children. A single tablet; Albendazole is administered at all Aganwadis and schools.  Children who missed are given the same tablet on a mop up day that is on the 15th of February. These worms cause malnutrition, anemia, stunted growth, and cognitive development in children. Let us support our Government of India's initiative to keep every child healthy as they are our future citizens.
