The weather is getting warmer these days, and it's time to do away all the warm layers of clothing that we Bengalureans did for these few weeks. No more waking up to chill, misty mornings as the 4th of February marked the beginning of summer, and it is also the SunGod's birthday; Ratha Saptami. It is said that Surya, the Sun God, drives 7 horses, symbolizing the 7 colors towards the northern hemisphere, that is north easterly direction. It's time to see clear blue sky with intermittent clouds. As the day progresses, it gets warmer, and for the next 3 months, we experience summer. This also heralds the spring and the start of the harvesting season. In India, it is an auspicious beginning of the New Year. Temples dedicated the sun God is worshipped throughout our country. Happy summer!
